Autobiography
My curiosity and questions about education began during my elementary years, when I transitioned from a lecture-styled classroom in China with 58 students to a student-centered classroom in Vancouver with 28 students. Having experienced the education system in both China and Canada, I have always reflected upon the similarities and differences, and questioned what makes effective teaching.
However, as I entered an undergraduate science program at UBC, I was still uncertain about what profession I wanted to pursue. For a while, I seriously contemplated the possibility of pursuing medicine, as I thought that I would enjoy both the science aspect and the caring aspect of the profession.
But as I reflected further upon my experiences, I realized that my skills and interests really pointed me toward a career in teaching. I was already spending my summers volunteering and working at summer camps, and my involvement with both teaching Sunday School at my church and with tutoring all reflected my passion and commitment to teaching and caring for children. Since then, I have been committed to becoming an educator who engages in lifelong learning with my students, and I can truly say that I love what I do !

Teaching Practicum
During my practicum at Hillcrest Elementary, it was a privilege to work with the grade 6/7 students of Mr. Hong's class. Our class blog engaged the students in an online learning community, and helped us to share our learning with parents and others in the education community. Other passions and interests
Aside from teaching, I also enjoy art, the outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. The video below highlights some of my other passions and interests.
